I Accept that there are number of matches when sachin scored a hundred and india lost. BUT this thing does not prove that he is not a match winner. He gives his 100% to game whether he is doing batting, bowling or even fielding. He is a true cricket. we have to accept his greatness. most of the loses india faced, was due to their poor bowling. india never had good bowling unit which caused them badly. i like shoaib akhter and accept his saying when he said ” sachin was scared of me”. he was fstest bowler so almost every batsmen was scared of him. every one knows this.

Sigh. This Sachin Tendulkar does not win matches meme is wearing thin. And if you had to go out and prove it, at least give out examples that support this hypothesis.

I went through the three examples you have posted.

In all three matches, Sachin scored more than 50% of the runs HIMSELF, averaging > 150, with a strike rate > 100 against bowling attacks that were much better than his own team’s (yes, even Zimbabwe was a better bowling unit than Sodhi and Prasad together). You should also add his 136 in Chennai to this list.

In all these cases, you have an example of a genius making a contest out of a situation where every other batsman in his team barely scored half as much.

Just subtract his contribution from the score, and it becomes an ordinary match which no one would even remember.

A more accurate conclusion to draw from these examples perhaps is that it is much harder for a batsman to be a consistent match winner in cricket than a bowler.

I would gladly accept a rational argument based on facts, but let’s not start to twist data to fit our preconceived notions.

And Frankly, if I were a cricketer, I’d end my career with satisfaction if I only had these three failures as my record.
