This 7-day Canadian Rockies photography tour takes you through some of the most spectacular landscapes in Alberta, including Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, the Icefields Parkway, Columbia Icefield, Pyramid Lake and Athabasca Falls.

Our goal is not simply to visit famous viewpoints. We plan each photography session around light, weather, reflections, clouds and changing conditions, giving you the best possible opportunities to create compelling landscape photographs.

Throughout the tour, you will photograph mountain peaks, turquoise alpine lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, forests and dramatic valleys while developing your landscape photography skills.

This Banff and Jasper photography tour is designed for amateur, enthusiast and professional photographers who already understand the basics of operating their camera.

Rather than teaching basic camera operation, we focus on:

7-Day Canadian Rockies Photography Tour Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Calgary

Meet in Calgary and settle into our hotel near the airport before our first group dinner.

We'll introduce the itinerary and discuss how we approach landscape photography throughout the trip, including reading light, weather, reflections and changing conditions.

Day 2 — Canmore, Banff & Lake Louise

We begin with a sunrise photography session near Canmore and the Three Sisters, working with mountain compositions, foreground interest and early morning light.

After breakfast, we'll photograph Lake Minnewanka and surrounding Banff viewpoints before heading toward Lake Louise.

For sunset, our primary location will be Vermilion Lakes, with Lake Minnewanka, Two Jack Lake or another Banff viewpoint used when conditions are more favorable.

Day 3 — Banff Lakes & Mountain Landscapes

We'll begin with sunrise photography at Lake Minnewanka, looking for reflections and atmospheric mountain light.

The day continues through Banff National Park with possible stops at Two Jack Lake, Johnston Canyon and the Castle Mountain area.

For sunset, we'll select the location offering the strongest combination of light, weather and photographic potential.

Day 4 — Yoho National Park

An early start takes us into Yoho National Park for sunrise photography at Emerald Lake.

We'll continue to Natural Bridge and the Takakkaw Falls area, with additional scenic stops depending on conditions.

The evening photography session will focus on Lake Louise or another nearby location offering the best light.

Day 5 — Lake Louise & Icefields Parkway

We'll begin with early morning photography at Lake Louise before traveling north along the Icefields Parkway.

Possible photography locations include:

• Bow Lake
• Crowfoot Glacier
• Peyto Lake
• Waterfowl Lakes
• Mistaya Canyon
• Other scenic viewpoints along the Parkway

Sunset photography will be selected according to our location, weather and available light.

Day 6 — Icefields Parkway, Columbia Icefield & Jasper

We'll continue north along the Icefields Parkway, beginning with sunrise photography at Peyto Lake or another location offering better conditions.

We'll photograph landscapes around Crowfoot Glacier, Mistaya Canyon, Saskatchewan River Crossing and the Columbia Icefield before entering Jasper National Park.

After arriving in Jasper, we'll photograph the evening light around Pyramid Lake, Patricia Lake or another suitable location.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 — Jasper National Park & Return to Calgary

Our final morning begins with sunrise photography around Pyramid Lake or Patricia Lake, with Medicine Lake or another Jasper location selected when conditions are better.

We'll continue exploring Jasper National Park, with possible photography stops at Medicine Lake, Maligne Canyon, Athabasca Falls and other scenic locations.

After lunch, we'll travel south toward Calgary along the Icefields Parkway, making additional photography stops when timing and conditions allow.

What Makes This Canadian Rockies Photo Tour Different?

Landscape photography is unpredictable. Instead of following a rigid sightseeing schedule, we use the weather, light, clouds, reflections and conditions to determine where we spend our time.

Primary sunrise and sunset locations are planned in advance, but we may change locations when another area offers better photographic conditions.

This flexibility allows us to make the most of what the Canadian Rockies give us each day.
